The greatest enemy of true, deep, lasting happiness is the lust for comfort. The desire for the familiar. The fear of the unknown. The need to feel secure. The belief that security and happiness lie outside yourself – in other people, money, control – pleasure.
As I see it, authentic leaders like Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, and the Dalai Lama are icons, examples of courageous people who follow their own destiny by putting their own vision of happiness first – so they can support others without becoming needy themselves. Authentic leaders take massive risks. Weaker people may get very upset around them – because they want to control and limit their vision – because they are afraid to live their own lives in this unfettered way. Authentic leader do not feel responsible for others’ self-limiting feelings – because they are self-aware and know they are not.
Are you at a place in life where you’re at the top of one mountain and all you can see ahead is more of the same? Are you unsure of your next step?
You too can put your own happiness first – and take the next step towards your true destiny. You can do this.
You can do this now.
